Ferrets 2000 - Ferret Racing

Ferret Racing with "Ferrets 2000" at Living Heriatege Events

As you can guess our name reflects in what we do. We have a marquee in the show dedicated to all aspects of keeping ferrets albeit for working (rabbit control) or keeping as pets. We also have a special area set aside for polecat conservation - an animal, the closest cousin to the ferret, native to the British Isles which was once in such decline that they nearly became extinct to these shores. We bring along with us a tame polecat which was hand reared from birth for all to see at close quarters and we think you will agree - what a stunning creature he is!

Our stand has a very interative touch to it and features a static display of ferrets of different colours in show cages for all to see, an area of refernce with literature boards and free hand outs with various information in regards to ferrets and keeping them, our polecat conservation area as mentioned previously and a working area showing the equipment used demonstrating the work of the ferret as form of pest control out in the field with a TV showing a DVD highlighting all aspects of the working ferret. We'll also be showing people the art of marking purse nets for the use in rabbit control.

Our main arena demonstration of course is our ferret racing displays. We lay out a set of coloured pipes with obstacles along the way for the ferrets to encounter as they run along through them we ask the audience to participate by having a little 'flutter' on the outcome of each race all for a bit of fun, the good thing knowing that all the monies and proceeds made on the racing during the course of the weekend go to ferret welfare and nominated charities close to us such as the Naomi House Children's Hospice, a home for terminally ill children. And if you win... You get to keep your winnings of course!

We at Ferrets 2000 are a small bunch of enthusiasts who dedicate a lot of our time in keeping and caring for these little known about and much maligned creatures. We are all members of the National Ferret Welfare Society and are a very friendly and approachable group so if you have any questions on ferrets (and polecats!) in general, then please don't hesitate to ask one of our friendly team. It just leaves us to see you all again around the shows in the not too distant future!

Kind Regards
Ferrets 2000
