Douglas Copland-Meredith Jewellery
Sterling Silver Jewellery & Tableware

Interesting design that will stand the test of time is the aim of Meredith Jewellery.? Douglas and Meredith Copland started the business in the summer of 1993 to introduce their first collection of jewellery. The core of this original range was the "roots and flowers collection" inspired by the shapes and forms of the plant world and incorporating richly hued semi-precious gemstones.??With each year the collection has expanded to include designs that look both to nature and the manmade beauties of other eras for inspiration---The Victorian love of decoration, the free-flowing forms of Art Nouveau, the geometric boldness of Art Deco or the simplicity of primitive art, to name a few. ?The range is characterised by a feeling of dynamic symmetry and respect for beauty that lends a classic appeal.? The use of gold to bring out elements of a design is another distinguishing feature of the jewellery.? All of the pieces are handcrafted from sterling silver using traditional silversmithing techniques.? Both the silver and gold, when it is used, must be tested in order for the pieces to be given a hallmark by the Edinburgh Assay Office.?

Meredith Jewellery is based at Douglas and Meredith's home in central Scotland.? In recent years they felt the range had developed enough to begin displaying farther from home.? It was then that they also decided to work on a collection of tableware including fully hand-shaped candlesticks, napkin rings and teaspoons along with keepsakes such as whisky measures, pillboxes, and christening cups.? These items can be produced ?only?very slowly and are usually on display to be made to order.? They bring an extra depth and lustre to the Meredith Jewellery collection.
